Shalom Hand Painted Window Art

“So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God.” (Genesis 28:21) What is the true meaning of Shalom? In Hebrew, the word Shalom means peace. Taken from the root word Shalam, it means, to be, safe in mind, in body, and in soul. The biblical Shalom refers to an inward sense of completeness, tranquility, and wholeness. In Israel today, Shalom also means hello and goodbye, where, literally, you are wishing others, “May you be full of well-being” or “May health and prosperity be upon you.”

Katja Barlia is the creative spirit behind Madbekatja, original, hand painted window art. Born in Hannover, Germany, Katja moved to Israel where she lived and raised a family for the last 30 years. Having worked as a florist for many years, Katja’s love of plants, flowers, and nature were the inspiration for her original window art designs.
