The Mortar and Pestle is considered one of the most ancient tools for food preparation known to mankind. Scientists have found ancient mortars and pestles in Southwest Asia that date back to approximately 35,000 BC. Copper Mortars and Pestles such as this one, were used in Herod’s Temple, where the Temple incense was pounded in mortars made of gold.
