“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” (Luke 2:11-12) Because of the natural color, grain, and shine of the olive wood, no two ornaments holders are alike, making this item a unique, one-of-a-kind work of art.
Olive Wood and the Bible Olive trees are native to Israel as well as other regions in the Middle East, Africa, and Europe, but Bethlehem is the only place in the world where original, handcrafted olive wood products are made. The Bible contains several passages describing the work of one’s hands. In the Book of Exodus, Moses set out to find the most skilled tradesmen in various professions to help with the construction of the tabernacle, as can be found in Exodus 35:35: “He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers–all of them skilled workers and designers.”
